Instructions for Using the Kit

Important Tips

  • The pot life of the mixed resin (after mixing the resin and hardener) is 20–30 minutes.
It is very important to use the correct proportions. Pour out the entire contents of the bottles.
If you are unsure whether you will have enough time in 20–30 minutes, you can use scales and do the following:
Stage 1: Mix the resin for the sand in a 2:1 ratio.
For example, 20 grams of resin and 10 grams of hardener. Cover the island with sand.
Stage 2: Mix the remaining resin for the sea and waves in the same 2:1 ratio.
For example, 60 grams of resin and 30 grams of hardener. Mix, colour (paint) the resin for the sea, pour the light part of the sea, pour the dark part of the sea, make waves.
  • Before starting work with the resin, degrease the art board using an alcohol wipe.
  • Be careful — resin cannot be removed from clothing or carpets without leaving a trace.
Use personal protective equipment and protect your work surface.
If resin gets on your skin, wash the affected area thoroughly with warm water and soap, then apply a soothing cream.
Make sure no allergic reaction occurs. If necessary, consult a doctor.
  • When creating a painting, it is important to have a flat surface. Use a regular construction level or download a "level" app on your phone.
  • To make the waves look realistic and form "cells", the resin mixed with pigment powder must be thick — with the consistency of liquid honey.
This happens approximately 15–20 minutes after mixing components A and B.
When blowing the waves, the air should be hot, and the speed should be minimal.
The speed and flow of the hair dryer determine whether you get calm or "stormy" waves.
  • If bubbles form on the surface of the painting, this is a normal reaction of the resin.
To remove them, you can use a gas torch: after finishing the painting, briefly pass the flame over the surface for a couple of seconds.
  • For a perfectly smooth surface after pouring, cover the painting with a large box to protect it from dust particles.
  • The most important factor affecting the curing of epoxy resin is room temperature.
The ideal temperature for working with resin is 20–25 °C.
If it’s warmer, the resin cures faster, and working time is reduced.
If the temperature is below 20 °C, the curing slows down — and in some cases, the resin may not harden at all.
  • Another factor affecting the quality of work is air humidity. It should not be high, otherwise a film may form on the product.
